Bristol re scheme of work

This page lists all Bristol REs operated by Bristol Omnibus including links to all photos currently in the BVRES Collection showing the liveries carried by individual vehicles. If you have any further information or photos I would be delighted to hear from you at rob@robsly.com

These vehicles were all in service (bar the odd early fire casualty) when the Bristol Omnibus system of coloured fleet number plates was adopted in 1970. These painted aluminium plates identified the vehicle's home depot. This system was superseded by a two-letter depot code which was mounted to the left of the fleet number at both the front and back of the vehicle. These schemes were applied as follows:

Winterstoke Road : GREEN/BROWN (became WE)

Cheltenham : YELLOW/ORANGE (became CM)
Marlborough Street : GREEN/WHITE (became MH)
Wells : BLUE/BLACK (became WS)
Stroud : YELLOW/RED (became SD)
Muller Road : GREEN/BLACK (became MR) Weston-super-Mare : BLUE/WHITE (became WM)
Swindon : YELLOW/BLACK (became SN)
Avonmouth : GREEN/BROWN (became WE)
Devizes : BLUE/BROWN (became BH)
Cirencester : YELLOW/BROWN (became SN)
Staple Hill : GREEN/BLACK (became SH)


Brislington : GREEN/ORANGE (depot closed)


Hanham : GREEN/MAGENTA (became HN)
